WHO WE ARE

A Bit of Background

The LIFE at LEMIT Alumni Association is a group of graduates of the Leadership Inventory for Female Executives (LIFE) course at the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) from Sam Houston State University. Our members are elite women in all levels of law enforcement and criminal justice from throughout the Texas and Arizona. The LIFE at LEMIT Alumni Association is exclusive to women who have completed the LIFE course at LEMIT – a life – changing week of leadership, empowerment, inspiration, and motivation. Many graduates of LIFE course have gone on to accomplish goals they would never have thought possible before experiencing LIFE, including promotions, retirements, career changes, and major life changes.

In 2014, the graduates of the LIFE course created the Alumni Association as a means to keep the connections made during the courses alive, and to provide further networking, support, and training opportunities among members from every LIFE course. We are a young Association with growing membership, and we rely on the support of sponsors and donors to provide the best possible Training Conference experience for our members and graduates.

In today’s climate of volatile relations between police and many communities throughout the country, it is more important than ever for law enforcement professionals to think outside the box in terms of building positive relationships with their communities. The LIFE at LEMIT Alumni Association is committed to the efforts, and will be focusing on such efforts during our Annual Conference experience.
